Why don't they put seatbelts on motorbikes? Or make drivers wear helmets?
When you ride in a car, the law says you must wear a seatbelt. But if you ride on a motorbike, which is way more dangerous, you don't have to wear a seatbelt.
One a motorbike, the law says you must wear a helmet. But if you ride in a car, you don;t have to wear a helmet, even though logically, this would be safer.
We can't invent laws for everything.
Sooner or later, we just have to accept that life is dangerous. It's a bit like being a good person. We can come up with laws such as: "Give 10 per cent of your money to charity", or "Do regular daddy dates with your children", or "Stop at stop signs".
But these laws can't stop us from being greedy. Or selfish. Or being a bad driver.
Laws can't make us good people. Our hearts are the problem.
That's why Jesus says we need to be born again.
God pours His Spirit into us and replaces our old hearts with new hearts.
Hearts that love the throaty roar of a 3-cylinder sports bike. But you'd better wear a helmet.
