In CS Lewis’s classic, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, the problem in Narnia is that it is always winter, but never Christmas. Winter keeps rolling. Christmas never turns up. It’s an exercise in despair
Now I live in Western Australia and it’s going to be a great summer.
Every day warm and dry. But if you’re on the East Coast … you’re in the middle of El Nina.
Summer won’t be turning up January - wet and cool February - wet and cool March dry! - but cooler and then Autumn and winter Result? Despair!
The Christmas message that CS Lewis wrote about, is that God turned up in our winter to rescue us.
The Bible puts it like this “At just the right time, when we were still sinners, Christ died for us” God turned up, banishing our despair All the signs pointed to winter and never Christmas! But God said summer!
