The Large Birds

Why is survival of the fittest okay for birds, but not people?
Topics

I was in a park recently and I saw some large birds chasing off a flock of smaller little birds. I watched these big birds use their superior strength and power to get rid of the smaller birds.

It was very much an example of survival of the strongest.

It made me wonder why this behaviour isn't something we endorse among people. Indeed, we would consider using superior strength and power to intimidate others and get your way as bullying.

So, why is this behaviour okay for birds, but not people?

I wonder if part of the answer is reflective of how Jesus transformed the world. For He had enormous power, but didn't use it for His own advantage. Instead, He humbled Himself, and became a human and died a humiliating death on a cross.

So perhaps the reason we don't endorse using power to bully others more reflects Jesus than the animal kingdom.
