Forgiveness Culture
Have you heard about the latest celebrity to get cancelled? I could say their name, but by the time you hear this, it's probably now someone else!
Cancel culture is everywhere today. But what about forgiveness culture? We don't see much of that.
And yet, wouldn't we be richer as a culture if we practised forgiveness?
Forgiveness doesn't mean turning a blind eye to injustice, or putting the onus on the victim to repair the situation.
But it will mean taking steps towards reconciliation that might be costly.
For me, Jesus is the model of this—whose death demonstrates that God takes justice seriously; but who also offers me forgiveness,
as His death cancels a debt I could never repay,
which is the kind of cancel culture I can get behind.
