Doing the right thing

What do I do if the laws of the land don't square with my beliefs?
Topics

When I watch a movie where people think they are doing the right thing, but still break the law, it makes me wonder how far I’d be willing to go to uphold the law when it contradicts the Bible.

In Acts 5, Peter and the apostles stated, “We must obey God rather than men.”

These passages help us to consider how we respond to ‘the law of the land.’ If the laws do not contradict the law of God, we are to obey them.

Yet, when laws reject God’s commands, we might consider our actions and how far we will go to follow God’s law. Remember, these actions will impact your testimony.

If you continue to read Acts 5, Peter and John did break the law but willingly accepted the government’s authority.

A result that was temporarily painful but caused praise and celebration in the end for these men and God’s followers.
