What does the pursuit of glory look like in the daily grind?

It takes effort to pursue glory. From climbing Everest to reaching the pinnacle of your career, achieving glory results from the accumulation of many small steps.

But if this type of glory is fleeting and uncertain is it worth pursuing at all? Is it possible to pursue certain and lasting glory and what does this look like in the daily grind?
