I am what I do?

Can we find something more at work?

Bible reference(s): Psalm 42

Work is an important part of our lives, yet it can become all consuming - so much so that we can become what we do. We reflect on this and offer a pathway to liberation from the burden of being captive to what we do.

Our guest: Andrew Laird works for City Bible Forum in Melbourne and oversees the Life@Work Conference - an initiative aimed at connecting Christian faith with our daily work. He is a popular, author, speaker and writer.

This Bigger Questions episode is a re-edit and re-release of Episode 32 (recorded under the show's former title, hence the absence of episode number).

In this episode, host Robert Martin discusses fulfilment and identity with Andrew Laird. They talk about why identity is so important, and how tying our identity with our work can be dangerous, disappointing and ultimately unfulfilling. Andrew shares from his own personal work journey including a humorous incident when he was just 21 where he realised he tied too much of his self esteem to his work. Yet through the Scriptures Andrew shares a way of placing work in its proper place and provides a solution that is far more enduring.
