Why are we valuable?
Our culture often says that you’re valuable by what you achieve or obtain - so if we get that new job, or that better house or relationship - then I’ll be someone.
Then I’ll be significant and valuable.
But the Bible offers a radical alternative - that we are valuable regardless of what we do or don’t achieve, because all humans are created in the image of God.
This has been described as the most radical thing in Old Testament literature. It’s the unique idea where every human is made in the image of God and therefore regardless of age, ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, or work status.
All humans are valuable and deserve dignity and respect because when you look in a mirror, in some sense you see a bit of God.
