Reel Dialogue's Favourite Films of 2024
The aftermath of COVID had a ripple effect on the industry over the past three years. Still, as the world opened up and cinemas began to recover the next big wave hit the industry, the writers and actors strike. Despite the winning combination of Oppenheimer and Barbie, this industrial action had a long-term impact at the end of 2023 and continued throughout 2024.
There were notable standouts throughout the year, while many of these films were holdovers from 2023. Yet, as the film industry limped into the year, there were noticeable wins at the box office, most notably that of Disney finding its feet once again.
As we wait for a few more films to finish off the season, Reel Dialogue thought we would share our favourites of the year and the best films in specific categories: Blockbusters, Family films, and Drama/Arthouse.
