This brazen act of political terrorism, carried out by Samaritans in the year 6AD was recorded by Josephus in his Antiquities 11.34-46. To put it mildly, there was no love lost between the Samaritans and Jews of the day – and things hadn’t improved by Jesus’ time. Two of his disciples once called fire down from heaven on a particular Samaritan village that refused to welcome Jesus & his followers.
