We kick off the third term with an 'oar' inspiring speaker, Tom Treseder. We offer two mornings, Tuesday and Friday, with the Friday session also being available by Zoom.
Tom is a visionary. As an industrial designer by trade, he dreamt the impossible, of making "any message in any language" available to the illiterate people of the world. From a humble sketch in 1988 was born the world's first solar-powered "Megavoice", available now in over 4,800 languages. At the age of 90, Tom continues to invent new devices, most recently for the people of Ukraine who suffer from power outages.
But Tom's story starts much earlier, as a curious young boy who stuck his head into the rowing shed at Five Dock. Tom would go on to row at the highest levels. In the spirit of Eric Liddell, his decision not to race on a Sunday cost him his opportunity to compete at the 1956 olympics.
