What is a Hope Group?
A Hope Group is an in-person or online gathering of between 3-6 people which meets regularly. 75 Hope Groups were started over a few months during lockdown in 2020 by Wilbur Longbottom (City Bible Forum - Hobart). The groups really seemed to meet a wide-spread community need for connection & purpose! Hope Groups use a simple, memorable pattern of ‘Look Back, Look Up & Look Forwards’ to help practice thankfulness, share challenges, and encourage one another from the teachings of Jesus – stories that can be easily shared with and passed on to friends/colleagues.
What do you do in a Hope Group?
The Hope Group meets for 30-45 minutes either before work, at lunchtime or after work/at night. Most groups meet once every two weeks during Term time. They follow a ‘Three-Thirds’ format with the leader spending equal time on each component.
