Could you disappear without a trace?
Like many thousands of Australians, I enjoyed the recent TV show Hunted, where contestants attempt to avoid capture for three weeks. When on the run, the fugitives always felt uneasy that they were being watched by the Hunters.
Now disappearing without a trace may be appealing, but what if someone is always watching us, not in order to apprehend us, but because they care for us?
For this is one of the truths of the Bible, that God is always watching us. Psalm 139:7 says,
Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
This may make us feel uncomfortable, particularly if we ignore him, but it can also be a great source of peace and comfort to know that someone who loves his people is always watching.
