Maud Lewis’ story may have only been known to the devout fans of the Canadian folk artist until the release of Maudie, a film that depicts her humble but profound life.
Due to severe arthritis, Maud found it challenging to walk and do many daily chores. Despite her eventual artistic success, she and her husband lived in a one-room cottage with no electricity or running water. Yet, she was known to say, “As long as I've got a brush in front of me, I'm alright.”
Watching this film brought to mind the passage in 1 Thessalonians… “Rejoice always... give thanks in all circumstances...
This means that regardless of your life experience or situation, we should be thankful. Take some time today to have an attitude of gratitude, regardless of what comes your way.
