The Leader Who Washes Feet
Can you imagine your boss cleaning the bathroom?
In a world where successful leaders are seen to be untouchable, Jesus' example of leadership is striking.
He reaches out, touches His disciples' dirty feet and washes them. Back in those days, the common footwear were sandals, and the common way of travel was walking. Washing feet was seen as a lowly task which a servant of a household would usually perform, not leaders. And yet, Jesus bends down, takes each foot and washes off all the dirt and grime.
Jesus' example of leadership is one of gentleness and humility.
The world may look at Him in shame; and yet He shows us an alternative way to treat one another—as God's loving creation made in God's image.
So the next time you are in a position of power or influence, remember Jesus and trust that His way is the most honourable.
