I am what I do?
How do you introduce yourself?
Chances are you say your name, closely followed by what you do.
That’s because in our culture we tie our value and worth to what we achieve and accomplish.
In our culture, “I am what I do”.
But this is a miserable way to live, because when our achievements inevitably fail to meet our own expectations, or the expectations of others, it can be crushing.
No, there’s a better way to view ourselves.
The Bible teaches those who trust in Jesus have a new identity - children of God who are loved and delighted in by Him.
And because this identity is given to us by Him, it can never be taken away from us, no matter how well or how poorly we perform.
